Our Fighter Boy
The chronicle of our journey with our special first born

Izhar’s 4 mths old today. I’d gratedful to the Almighty that he is with us for this long… and has put up such a great fight.
We are facing another obstacle now. He is currently having an infection due to the long-term intubation. O2 sats were unstable yesterday and after rectifying things step by step, they ended up with putting him back on the prostaglandin and upping the O2 level on the ventilator to 100%. As of now he is still being closely monitored and is given medication for the infection.
Today however his sats seemed to maintain at a better range of high 70s to mid 80s. On the other hand, he looks much swollen due to the water retention (not peeing much!). And for some reason, he has a bruise on the upper right side of his back. The nurses have no idea how it happened, when i was there last night there wasn’t such a bruise. Anyways, it seems that the bruising has gotten better compared to earlier in the morning. We’re just hoping that it has nothing to with the chest tube. He is also being proned (put on tummy) as it is supposed to help with his secretions.
As of today, his nasal secretions seem to be flowing non-stop. As he has been having thick secretions for quite a while, he has been prescribed with meds to help loosen the secretions. Hopefully this will help better his condition.
Right now all we can do is to just pray that he pulls through everything, albeit slowly but surely, God willing.
