Izhar was much MUCH better this evening. He was off the c-pap mask since morning and was breathing on his own fine. Heartbeat has settled to about 150bpm and his O2 has stabalised to above 80%. Alhamdullilah…

As there was no signs of infection, they are taking him off the Penicillin and putting him back on the Amoxycilin. I’m hoping to see the IV off his little hand when i see him tomorrow. He is peeing alot, so hopefully the fluids are draining from his lungs. His feeds is back up to 60ml from 55ml the last few days. He is still not being bottle fed as they concerned about his heart overworking, but at least everything else is looking good.

Spoke to a Dr Nirmal who was on shift yesterday and he totally helped to clear our doubts and worries. Izhar’s blood platelets went up to over 1mil counts ytd, but Dr Nirmal actually told us not to worry too much about it; based on his experience, he has had patients who had high blood platelet counts before, but the most important thing is how well his platelets clot. thus, they have actualy taken (yes, more) blood tests to see how his platelets clot. should it clot too well, then they’d have to give Izhar minuscle amounts of Aspirin to help prevent the clotting - but this is something that they would only look at unless really necessary.

The cardiologists come by almost everyday to chk on his heart, but thus far there are no changes. I think the doctors are really pending on what to do with him. We are very much praying that he wouldn’t have to go through surgery but… one just never know, especially with his heart condition.
