post-op #1: day 14

Izhar’s looking better today.

Met the doctors twice.

Afternoon rounds - the doctors say he doesn’t look too breatheless in comparison to the last 2 days. The reasons why he may be having this condition may be due to 3 things: 

1. his PDA is getting bigger
2. a leaky valve &
3. the veins that were repaired may have narrowed

right now the docs are giving him medications and are monitoring him as they try to work out the problem.

Evening rounds - it seems that his lungs are much better… at least as seen on the evening x-ray. i can see the shadows of his left lungs in comparison to the day or 2 before when i can only see half of it. so hopefully my boy will do better - at least with regards to the secretion.

now my current worry is whether he’d be able to last these 3-4 mths before his next proposed surgery…

anyways, once again it amazes me at how alert and curious this boy can get. during the period when we were there in the evening, 2 lady doctors were doing the evening rounds. at the same moment, we were intending to leave as Izhar has gone to sleep. Just at the point when we were leaving, he began to stir… so we decided to just wait a while more.

a few minutes later, the 2 doctors came by to see him and at that moment, as the doctors were washing their hands, his eyes just popped open and he seemed as wide awake as ever. he looked as if he was listening to what mama and doctor was discussing and didn’t look one bit sleepy. afterwhich, the instant the doctors were done and left the room, this lil fella fell straight back to sleep. now. is he just curious? or cheeky? lol.

Also, the inital c-pap tube that he had was too small (it was a size 2) and they changed to a bigger one. but then it was too big (it was a size 4) - his poor nostrils were expanded, so we asked for it to be changed to one that was just his size (size 3); and he looked so much more comfortable after that.

anyways, during the point of time that they changed it, he was off everything for a while and we managed to see his cute lil face. though it was just for a few minutes, it just made our day. XD
