post-op #1: CSDU day 28

My lil hero has gained weight! he’s put on 400g over the month and is at 4kg! hurrah Izhar! also, i think he’s starting to get used to the c-pap again, because these past two days he has been able to fall asleep pretty quickly after feeding.

secretions wise there’s not much of it but its thick. also, he tends to have ‘plugs’ - accumulated secretions, a lot like snot but they are they are at the back of his nose. and since he’s not able to blow them out, they get stuck in his airway. as of now they are doing interval suctioning for him as he’s nostrils are a bit traumatized (i.e bleeding).

his sats on c-pap, alhamdullilah has been pretty good. we’re still in the 60s. off c-pap tho he’s most times on the low end, at times high 50s. i had a scare on thursday; his sats went down to 38% one time. it was pretty wierd because he didn’t look like he was at 38%. he still looked comfortable and his color was not anywhere near looking pale. i decided to change the probe wire that monitors the heart rate and O2 and thankfully the lowest we’ve had since then was 58%.

on the overall, i just pray that Izhar will maintain this status for at least another month, but if possible longer. and also, hopefully by end of next month he’d put on a min 400g again!
